Stamford mayor’s son among four arrested in Darien drug robbery

A Darien man and a son of the Stamford mayor were arrested by Darien police after a drug deal went wrong on Old King’s Highway North. The Darien man originally reported an attempted home invasion Tuesday morning, which police discovered to be untrue.
Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy’s son Ben Malloy, 21, and Eric Sing, 19, of Darien, were arrested Wednesday night, according to news reports.
“We’ve developed some substantial leads in the case,” Darien police Capt. Fred Komm told The Darien Times on Wednesday afternoon. “We are applying for arrest warrants for those responsible. We expect to make arrests in the case in the next few days.”
It didn’t take the police that long.
The arrest warrants were issued Wednesday evening. Malloy later turned himself into Darien police. He was charged with first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was released on a $2,500 bond with a March 18 court date.
Police searched Malloy’s Stamford home Tuesday evening, the Stamford Advocate reported tonight.
Sing of 165 Old Kings Highway North was charged with second-degree falsely reporting an incident, criminal attempt to sell marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A drug deal was supposed to happen at 1 a.m. Tuesday at Sing’s home. Three men, according to police, arrived at the Old King’s Highway home, which included Malloy, to buy the drugs.
When the three men knocked on the side door, Sing went outside to make the drug deal, police said. But then two of the men pulled guns on Sing, demanding the drugs without pay. Sing backed away, got inside, closed the door and called police.
Police have not said which two of the men had the guns. According to reports, police have recovered a .22 caliber blank gun.
“He stepped outside to talk to them, they pulled the guns, but he was somehow able to get inside and close the door,” Komm told The Darien Times before the arrests were made.
When Sing called police, he falsely told the dispatcher, and later officers on the scene, that it was an attempted home invasion, police said.
“It was not an attempted home invasion,” Komm said. “It was an expected drug transaction, and they tried to rip off the alleged victim.”
“The alleged victim was selling drugs to the three men,” Komm added. “He lied to police, he falsely reported what happened.”
The three men, described as white males in their early- to mid-twenties, were clad in hooded sweatshirts concealing the bottom of their faces. They left the area in what was described as “an older model vehicle, possibly a Volvo, Oldsmobile or Lincoln,” according to police.
“There will be a total of four arrests,” Komm said. “The three that showed up to make the drug transaction, and the alleged victim is going to be arrested also.”
In addition to the male resident, there were four other people at home that did not witness the encounter because they were on the second floor, police said.
The incident remains under investigation by the Darien Police Department’s Detective Division and anyone with information is asked to call 662-5330.
Two other arrest warrants have been issued, but the names have not been released

It’s been a while

Hi everyone.
Its been a few weeks since I have written anything on the blog here. But it’s been a busy 6 weeks!
I don’t want to get into too much detail, but lets just say my wife had a pretty severe accident and did a bit of damage to herself…. How much damage you say?….. well she has a broken right wrist, broken right elbow, shattered left hand requiring 5 hours of surgery and 7 pins and last but not least 2 broken vertebra in her back. So needless to say, life has been hectic at home… not to mention the fact that I am only 4 months into a new job. But work has been great. My bosses have been very supportive and understanding.
But things are getting better. She is up and around now. She’s able to climb stairs…. The pins were taken out of her hand Monday and she is able to take off the back brace and arm braces now when she is up to it.
Anyway, to those who knew, thanks for all the nice messages.

Streaming to your Cell

Well I waited for a year and it finally was released. KINOMA for the Palm WX700w, an audio video player that allows streaming to your cellphone. KINOMA Player costs $29.95 and has been around for Palm OS as well as other cellphones. It has Services linked directly to Audible.com, Flickr.com, iDisk.com, Live365.com, orb.com, ShoutCAST.com and of course YouTube.com. The ShoutCAST is cool, I went to search, typed in “Police Scanner” and up came a list of online scanner sites (like mine) that I could listen to.
The BEST feature of KINOMA is that it lets you to create “.pls” files that allow you to directly stream from over the internet. I created a PLS file for ScanCT F1 and saved it, started KINOMA and opened the PLS file and BAM ScanCT.com F1 on my cell! No need for a scanner when I have my cell with me now. LOL
I am told that there are THOUSANDS of radio stations available online… Tell you more as I find out more.
